<resp>To reuse the Kühn’s edition for the Galenus verbatim project, we (silently) corrected the texts as found in the <orgName source="https://github.com/OpenGreekAndLatin/First1KGreek">First1KGreek</orgName> repository, whether there were mistakes of transcriptions, errors in the metadata or missing parts of the text. We added bibliographical references to the previous editions referred to in Kühn’s edition as "Bas." and "Chart.": that of the Γαληνοῦ Ἅπαντα published in Basel (hence referred to as #Basel) and the Operum Hippocratis Coi, et Galeni Pergameni of René Chartier (hence referred to as #Chartier); we changed the naming schemes of the milestones indicating the corresponding Basel and Chartier pages in Kühn’s edition, and added the corresponding Basel and Chartier volume number. The editions other than that of Kühn were given milestones indicating the corresponding Kühn volume and pages when they were missing. Treatises from Kühn’s edition were given line numbers. We also added elements of structuration that were present in Kühn’s edition but were missing in the TEI, mainly the division of chapters into sections in some treatises, as well as the header for those sections. The text of headings containing the name of chapter and numbers of chapters and sections have been restored, as well as the original symbols as they appear in Kühn’s printed edition. The text numbered tlg0057.tlg096 that was separately edited was reinserted in the tlg0057.tlg095 in accordance with its location within Kühn’s edition. <lb n="3"/>πάντων ἐπέχειν ἀεί. ἀλλ’ εἰ δὴ τοῖς φυσικοῖς κριτηρίοις
<lb n="4"/>αἴσθησιν ἱκανῶς συγχωρήσουσιν ἡμῖν, οὐδὲν ἔτι δεησόμεθα
<lb n="5"/>τῆς εἰς ἑκάτερα ἐπιχειρήσεως, ἀλλ’ ἑτέρου τινὸς ἀπαιτήσεως,

<lb n="8"/>πολλῶν ψηφίζειν. τοῦτο δ’ ἔστι τὸ ἐπισταθῆναι τῷ γυμναζομένῳ,
<lb n="9"/>καὶ τούτῳ προσέχειν τὸν νοῦν, ἐν οἷς σφάλλεται,
<lb n="10"/>καὶ ταῦτα ἐπανορθούμενον μόνα. παραπλησίως δὲ καὶ ὁ
<lb n="11"/>παιδοτρίβης ἐπανορθοῦται τὰ τῶν παλαιόντων ἁμαρτήματα.
<lb n="12"/>καὶ ὁ γραμματικὸς, καὶ ὁ ῥήτωρ, καὶ γεωμέτρης, καὶ μουσικὸς,
<lb n="13"/>οὕτω διδάσκουσιν οὐ διασείοντες, οὐδὲ σαλεύοντες
<lb n="14"/>τῶν μαθητῶν ἣν ἔχουσι πίστιν ἐπὶ τοῖς φυσικοῖς κριτηρίοις,
<lb n="15"/>ἀλλ’ ἐφεστῶτες αὐτοῖς γυμναζομένοις, ἄχρι περ ἂν ἀναμαρτήτους
<lb n="16"/>ἀποδείξωσι, τὰς κατὰ μέρος ἐνεργείας, ἀλλ’ οὐχὶ

<lb n="12"/>τῆς τῶν ἀληθῶν εὑρέσεως; ᾧ γὰρ οὐδὲν ὑπάρχει
<lb n="13"/>κριτήριον ἀληθῶν καὶ ψευδῶν, ἀνέλπιστος ἡ γνῶσις αὐτοῦ.

<lb n="11"/>ἐναργῶς οἶμαι δεδιδάχθαι. ἂν δ’ οἱ λοιποὶ πάντες, διδασκαλίαι
<lb n="12"/>μέν εἰσιν, εἰ δ’ ἄρισται, σκοπῶμεν, ἐξ ἀρχῆς ἀπὸ τῶν
<lb n="13"/>αὐτῶν αὖθις ἀρξάμενοι. φαίνεται γὰρ ἡμῖν ἐναργῶς τοῦτο,
<lb n="14"/>κᾂν ὅτι μάλιστα αὐτοῖς ἄπιστον ἐργάσασθαι σπουδάζουσιν

<lb n="3"/>ὄργανά τε καὶ κριτήρια, τὰ μὲν οἷς κατασκευάσεις τοὺς
<lb n="4"/>ἀληθεῖς λόγους, τὰ δ’ οἷς τοὺς ἐφ’ ἑτέρων κρινεῖς γεγονότας.
<lb n="5"/>ἔχει γὰρ οὕτως τὸ πᾶν. εἰ μὲν γὰρ ἐξ ἑαυτοῦ τι
<lb n="6"/>φαίνοιτο πρὸς αἴσθησιν ἢ νόησιν ἐναργῶς, οὐ χρῄζει τοῦτο
<lb n="7"/>ζητήσεως. εἰ δὲ μήτε τι τοιοῦτον ὑπάρχῃ, τῆς ἐξ ἑτέρου
<lb n="8"/><choice><sic>προςδεῖται</sic><corr>προσδεῖται</corr></choice> γνώσεως. ἐγὼ μὲν ἐπαγγέλλομαί σοι διδάξειν
<lb n="9"/>ἔνια μὲν τοῖς κατὰ τὰς τέχνας ὀργάνοις ἀνάλογα, ἐξ ὧν
<lb n="10"/>εὑρήσεις τὸ ζητούμενον· ἔνια δὲ τοῖς κριτηρίοις, ἐξ ὧν τὸ
<lb n="11"/>δοκοῦν εὑρῆσθαι κρινεῖς. ἐπειδὰν δὲ μάθοις ταῦτα, ἐπὶ
<lb n="12"/>πολλῶν παραδειγμάτων γυμνάσω σε ταχέως τε ἅμα καὶ ἀκριβῶς
<lb n="13"/>εὑρίσκειν, καὶ κρίνειν τὸ ζητούμενον, ὥστ’ οὐδὲ βιβλίου
<lb n="14"/>δεήσει τινὸς ἔτι ἤδη πρὸς τὴν τῶν ἀληθῶν εὕρεσιν,
<lb n="15"/>οὔτε διδασκαλίας ἑτέρας, εὐθύς τε δήπου καὶ τοὺς ἄλλο τι

<lb n="10"/>ὅτι ᾧ κρίνομεν, ὁποῖόν ἐστί τι, καὶ ὅτι τῷ αὐτῷ ἴσα, καὶ ἀλλήλοις
